Mayor of Visoko, Mr. Mirza Ganić, accompanied by members of his team, visited EUFOR Headquarters at Camp Butmir, where he was welcomed by COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda.

The visit was an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between EUFOR and local authorities, while giving the Mayor and his delegation a closer look at EUFOR’s mission, mandate and capabilities behind it.

During the visit, the delegation received a briefing on EUFOR’s activities and had the opportunity to see a selection of the capabilities supporting the mission, including aviation, medical and specialised assets.

For EUFOR, engagement with local authorities is an important part of maintaining an open and transparent relationship with the communities it serves. As the closest link between institutions and citizens, mayors and local authorities have a unique understanding of the everyday concerns and needs of their communities.

This is why EUFOR continues to meet with representatives of domestic institutions and local authorities providing an opportunity to see first-hand who EUFOR is, what it does and how it contributes to a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of this commitment to stronger community engagement, EUFOR has invited the Municipality of Visoko to establish an EUFOR information desk at local social events and public gatherings. This will provide an opportunity for citizens of all generations, including young people and older members of the community, to learn more about EUFOR and its role in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

EUFOR’s doors remain open. The visit by Mayor Ganić and his team is part of a broader commitment to keeping communication with local authorities open and direct. EUFOR welcomes the opportunity to host other mayors and local representatives at Camp Butmir, to meet the people behind the mission, exchange views and learn more about how EUFOR works in support of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its communities.

Meaningful cooperation begins with openness, dialogue and a willingness to meet.
