A change of command is always more than a formal handover. It is a moment to recognise the people, service and commitment behind the mission.
On 29 September, at Camp Butmir in Sarajevo, Colonel Gregor Scheucher officially assumed command of the Austrian National Contingent and the position of Chief JMA within EUFOR, taking over from Colonel Hermann Steinkogler.
The ceremony was attended by EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda, together with military and civilian representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the international community.
For Austria, the ceremony marked another step in its longstanding contribution to EUFOR and its work alongside partners across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Behind every uniform are people who bring their experience, professionalism and dedication to a shared mission.
As one commander hands over the responsibility to another, the mission continues built on teamwork, trust and a shared commitment to contributing to a safe and secure environment for all.
