The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, conducted an official visit to Banja Luka, continuing his engagement with key institutional and security leaders to discuss the current security environment and EUFOR’s ongoing commitment to stability across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During his visit, Major General Fronda met with the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Mr. Savo Minić, where discussions focused on EUFOR’s continued impartial support to Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities. The Commander reaffirmed EUFOR’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens, in line with its mandate under Operation Althea.
Major General Fronda also met with the Director of Police of Republika Srpska, Mr Siniša Kostrešević, at the Zalužani Training Centre. Discussions emphasised the importance of stability, close cooperation, and respect for the rule of law as key elements in preserving security across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Concluding his visit, the Commander travelled to Kozara Barracks, where he met with members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visit highlighted the strong and ongoing cooperation between EUFOR and AFBiH, reinforcing the importance of joint engagement, interoperability, and shared readiness in maintaining stability throughout the country.
Major General Fronda underlined EUFOR’s role and commitment, stating: “EUFOR remains a visible, credible, and impartial force, fully committed to supporting the authorities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through our presence, partnership, and readiness, we continue to contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens, in line with our mandate.”
The visit reaffirmed EUFOR’s continued engagement with authorities and security institutions at all levels, as well as its commitment to working in close partnership to safeguard peace, stability, and security across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
