COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, received the Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, General Miroslav Lorinc, at Camp Butmir on 14 September 2026.

General Lorinc was accompanied by senior representatives of the Slovak Armed Forces, including Brigadier General Štefan Acsai, Commander of the Land Forces, and Brigadier General Ferdinand Muríň, Commander of Deployed Forces, together with representatives of the Slovak Embassy and Defence Attaché. The visit formed part of a wider programme at Camp Butmir, which included an operational briefing, a visit to the Slovak National Support Element, as well as a visit to the EUFOR Liaison and Observation Team in Novo Sarajevo.

During the office call, COM EUFOR and General Lorinc discussed the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the current and planned development of Operation Althea, and the contribution of Slovak personnel serving with EUFOR.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on the continued implementation of the mission’s operational objectives and the importance of maintaining a credible, capable and multinational force in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

General Lorinc has served as Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces since 2026, following previous appointments including Deputy Chief of Defence and Slovak National Military Representative at SHAPE.
