On 9 Jan 18 Commander EUFOR, Major General Anton WALDNER, hosted Brigadier General Alain VUITEL from the Armed Forces of Switzerland.
Brigadier General and COMEUFOR
Brigadier General VUITEL discussed the current political and military situation in BiH with COMEUFOR. He is familiar with the Balkan region, having served as the Deputy Chief of Staff in Multinational Brigade South, Kosovo Force (KFOR) in 2008. KFOR is currently the Tactical Reserve Battalion for Op ALTHEA, the EUFOR-led military mission to ensure a safe and secure environment in BiH. If necessary, these troops can be called upon under the 'Berlin Plus' Agreement to supplement the EUFOR troops currently in BiH in times of crisis.
In addition to sharing his experience of the Balkans with COMEUFOR, Brigadier General VUITEL inspected the Guard of Honour from the Multinational Battalion and met members of the Swiss Armed Forces currently serving as part of EUFOR's Headquarters Staff.
