On 20 November EUFOR organised a workshop in Camp Butmir to exchange experiences with Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH). Opening remarks were given by EUFOR Chief of Staff Brigadier, General József Szpisják, and Brigadier General Ivica Jerkić representing the AFBiH Operational Command.

EUFOR Workshop to increase AFBiH operational capabilities

The workshop focused on the development and assessment of required capabilities of the declared units based on the memorandum of understanding signed between AFBiH Joint Staff and EUFOR beginning of February 2016. Aiming at an increase of the operational readiness, the desired end state is a self-sustainable Armed Force of BiH trained and capable to operate alongside Euro-Atlantic Forces having declared units ready for deployment.

With the training objectives set by the BiH authorities and milestones coordinated by the EUFOR Capacity Building and Training Division, joint working groups have been established at different levels of the AFBiH to produce deployable forces. These working groups exchange experiences with their EUFOR counterparts on a regular basis through meetings like this one, which included the planning of joint activities for 2018.
