On invitation from the Commander of the Operational Command of the AFBiH, Major General VUKOVIĆ, EUFOR Chief of Staff General Josef SZPISJAK attended the presentation of the AFBiH Mine Action Analysis 2016 on 04 May 17 in DERVENTA. At the demining site PJEVALOVAC near DERVENTA the AFBiH Demining Battalion described their successes in Mine Action in 2016 and demonstrated live demining with different methods to the audience.
The Demining Battalion in 2016 successfully cleared 2.512.648 m2 land while 474 Mines and Explosive Remnances of War (ERW) were destroyed. In a press statement EUFOR Chief of Staff General Josef SZPISJAK stressed, that because of the large number of mines and ERWs still remaining in BiH, Mine Action is one of the most important issues for a safe environment for a normal and prosperous life for all BiH citizens. AFBIH contribution to reach this goal is an important one and EUFOR Chief of Staff underlined EUFOR’s willingness to provide further support to AFBiH Mine Action capabilities.
