On Monday 7 December 2015, the European Union Force (EUFOR) Headquarters in Camp Butmir welcomed the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) to a EUFOR Capability Building & Training Division brief. The focus was to consider how to support the AFBiH capability building, going forward

The key attendees at the Briefing, including COM EUFOR, COM NATO and the Joint Staff of the AFBiH

The Commander EUFOR and Commander NATO led the event, supported by the EUFOR Headquarter’s division chiefs. The meeting proposed and demonstrated a capability-based assessment methodology in support of the AFBiH’s Defense Planning. This also supported EUFOR’s objectives, and the partnership goals, to assist the AFBiH in developing a self-sustainable training system.

The AFBiH Chief of the Joint Staff, Lt Gen A Jeleč kindly accepted COM EUFOR’s continued support. The Joint Staff of the AFBiH will – based on their most relevant priorities – recommend capability areas where assessments can be jointly conducted by EUFOR, NATO, and AFBiH.
This approach will form a prerequisite for EUFOR future objectives and effective training activities in support of the AFBiH.
