EUFOR Commander, Maurizio Fronda, conducted a tour in Čapljina, meeting Brigadier General Slaven Blavicki and the Mayor of the city, Ms. Iva Raguž.

As part of a robust readiness and reinforcement review, the EUFOR Commander, Major General Maurizio Fronda, conducted a Temporary Station Area (TSA) visit in Čapljina where he was welcomed by the 4th Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Slaven Blavicki. This was a great opportunity for COM EUFOR to receive an update on the security situation in that area, on joint activities, and on the ongoing training and cooperation carried out between EUFOR troops and the AF BiH to safeguard a safe and secure environment. In particular Maj Gen FRONDA reaffirm EUFOR’s operational preparedness across Bosnia and Herzegovina and underlined the importance of upcoming annual exercise, which will be conducted jointly by EUFOR and the Armed Forces of BiH, aimed at improving interoperability, coordination, and readiness in responding to crisis situations.

Furthermore, Major General Fronda had the opportunity to stop at the Ammunition Storage facility - Gabela where he was updated on the work of EUFOR Joint Military Affairs (JMA), who operate under the authority of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP) and in support of BiH institutions for the proper management of stocks.

Continuing his tour COM EUFOR met with Mayor of Čapljina, Ms. Iva Raguž. During this meeting, the Mayor of Čapljina informed COM EUFOR about the current projects ongoing in the city, all of which were enabled by the stable situation within BiH currently. COM EUFOR commended the ongoing work within the city, in particular, emphasizing that the projects focused upon the youth were extremely important as they will be the leaders of tomorrow within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Major General Fronda reaffirmed EUFOR’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with the authorities of BiH to build domestic capacity which will enable a stable and prosperous future for all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During his visit, COM EUFOR also met with personnel at the German (DEU) LOT House in Čapljina. This visit was proved to be a valuable opportunity to gain an understanding on how EUFOR troops integrate and communicate with the local population in their everyday tasks. The DEU Čapljina LOT team, provided Major General Fronda with in-depth and detailed brief about their community engagement and the fostering of strong relationships with local institutions. LOT Houses play a vital role in maintaining situational awareness, strengthening local engagement, and preserving strong ties with communities throughout the country. The visit underscored the importance of presence, partnership, and information flow as key pillars of stability.

This engagement sends a clear message: EUFOR remains credible, ready, and fully committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through proactive planning, visible presence, and close coordination with local stakeholders, EUFOR continues to demonstrate both deterrence and reassurance.
