Earlier this week, EUFOR members took part in an 8-kilometre race held in the Park Hutovo Blato Nature, near Čapljina, marking the International Military Sports Council Day (CISM).

The race was organised by the 4th Infantry Brigade and brought together EUFOR personnel, members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and students from Čapljina High School.

A total of 19 EUFOR members representing six nations - Albania, Hungary, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania and Türkiye - participated in the event, demonstrating multinational cohesion and team spirit. In the women’s category, OR3 Loredana Teacu of the Romanian Armed Forces secured second place, while OR3 Roxana Arămescu finished third. First place was awarded to Captain Dragana Trifković of the 4th Infantry Brigade.

During the official opening ceremony, Colonel Mirnes Čosić, Chief of Staff of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressed participants and guests, emphasising that Sports represents a universal language that transcends borders, strengthens mutual trust, and builds bridges of cooperation among militaries and citizens.

He highlighted the joint participation of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR personnel, and Čapljina High School students as a strong symbol of partnership and trust. Running side by side with members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, high school students, and participants of all backgrounds, EUFOR once again demonstrated its commitment to remaining a stable and reliable partner to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina through diverse forms of engagement.

Congratulations to all winners and participants - we look forward to seeing you at the next race, half marathon, marathon, or new sporting challenge.
