On the request of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR conducted a search and rescue operation on 06 April for two tourists who lost their way while hiking in a mountainous area. With concerted efforts of numerous members of the HQ staff and the subordinated elements, EUFOR successfully conducted the operation and proved again that EUFOR is ready 24/7 to support the local authorities of BiH.
In order to recognize the efforts of those who were directly involved in this operation, COM EUFOR Major General László Sticz awarded them with a Commander’s Coin.
As MG Sticz emphasized, although these people's job descriptions indeed contain these tasks, it should never be left unnoticed or without recognition when members of EUFOR go well beyond their everyday tasks, and these highly qualified professionals from Austria, Hungary, Italy and the Netherlands proved that they are great ambassadors of their field of profession, their armed forces and their nation.
