Dr Gjorge Ivanov, the President of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was welcomed to Camp Butmir on 4 October 2012 by Major General Robert Brieger, Commander of EUFOR.
The President’s arrival was marked by an Honour Guard comprising soldiers from the 23 troop contributing nations. Dr Ivanov was accompanied during his visit by His Excellency Mr Rami Rexhepi, the Ambassador of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia makes an important contribution to the EUFOR mission - Operation Althea by providing a legal advisor and a medical team of ten military personnel.
The President paid his respects at the monument to the fallen soldiers of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.  The monument honours the eleven soldiers who were killed in a helicopter crash near Skopje on 12 January 2008.  The soldiers had just completed their EUFOR mission and were returning home.
General Brieger thanked Dr Ivanov for his country’s continuing support to Operation Althea and went on to praise the doctors, nurses and support staff for the high quality medical care that they provide to all the soldiers in Camp Butmir.
