Brigadier General Zoltán Mihócza
started his, in military career in 1980, as a radio technical engineer student. He graduated from the Military University, Minsk in 1986 and was promoted to Deputy Commander of Air Defense Battalion (AD). In 1989 he assumed the position of Commander of Maintenance Company of AD Brigade. From 1992 he had served at the AD Brigade as Chief Maintenance, Chief Missile Service and Chief Military Technology until 1998, when he was appointed to the Meteorological Office HUN Deffence Forces. In 1999 he was appointed to the J5 Deffence Staff MOD as staff officer, followed by an appointment as a staff officer at J1/4 NATO HQ JCS Verona, a position he held until 2002. During this time, 2000 – 2001, he had the honour to serve at KFOR NATO HQ Pristina.
After this NATO post he returned to the J5 Deffence Staff until 2003 and from 2003 till 2005 worked as the Military Assistant to the Chief for Integration Defence Staff and Director of Defence Staff, MOD. In 2005 he was promoted as Chief NATO and Doctrines Branch, Military Planning Directorate MOD and then Deputy Head of Operations and Training Department, MOD. In 2010 he assumed the Head of Force Planning Department, MOD position. From 2011 until 2013 he served as the Hungarian Military Representative to NATO and the EU Military Committees, Brussels. Most recently he was the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), Joint Forces Command, Hungarian Defence Forces.
In 1997 Brigadier General MIHÓCZA graduated from ADA Officers Advanced Course, El Paso, Texas, USA and in 2005 graduated from the Air War College, Montgomery, Alabama, USA. During his career he has participated in a number of NATO courses.
Brigadier General MIHÓCZA has been decorated with the Knight of Cross from the Order of Merit of Hungary and various service medals.
Married to Elizabeth, he has one daughter Victoria. In his spare time he enjoys cross-country cycling and hiking.
