EUFOR’s Operation Commander, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, today visited EUFOR Headquarters with the Ambassadors of the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC).
The PSC Ambassadors are in BiH this week to visit EU institutions in Sarajevo. General Bradshaw is also carrying out a 3 day visit to attend a number of the PSC meetings and to undertake additional working visits in his role as EUFOR’s Operation Commander.

PSC Ambassadors and General Bradshaw were welcomed to EUFOR Headquarters with an introductory address from Major General Dieter Heidecker, Commander EUFOR. Further presentations explained EUFOR’s role in BiH, including details of the assistance given to local authorities to maintain a safe and secure environment, and the training activities for Armed Forces BiH.
PSC Ambassadors and General Bradshaw also witnessed a static display from soldiers from EUFOR's Multinational Battalion, and from EUFOR’s British sub-unit, who arrived in July of this year to enhance existing EUFOR capabilities.
General Bradshaw has held the role of Operation Commander since March 2014, when he assumed the role of NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR). Under an arrangement known as the ‘Berlin Plus Agreement’, this key command position also commands the EUFOR Operation ALTHEA.
The PSC meets at the ambassadorial level as a preparatory body for the Council of the EU. Its main functions are keeping track of the international situation, and helping to define policies within the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) including the CSDP. It prepares a coherent EU response to a crisis and exercises its political control and strategic direction.
