This morning EUFOR received an official request from the Ministery of Security to assist in flood affected areas. EUFOR has been continuously monitoring the situation regarding floods since receiving first information and requests for providing support to local authorities.

A crisis team was established immediately in the EUFOR Headquarters to assist within available means and capabilities. Around 130 soldiers with vehicles are held on standby in Camp Butmir. All EUFOR helicopters are ready to operate pending suitable weather conditions since present conditions currently do not allow safe helicopter operations from Sarajevo. One reconnaissance flight was conducted but had to return to base due to the adverse situation.

Boats have been transported by EUFOR trucks from Rafting companies in the Konjic area to Rajlovac barracks to support evacuation of personnel.
Two additional requests were received to provide helicopter assets for the areas of Sekovici and Maglaj. The operation is pending. Air operations remain difficult to conduct but when conditions improve, EUFOR will deploy air assets.

Civilian Authorities remain in the lead and EUFOR stands ready to support when requested by the BiH Ministry of Security. EUFOR will assist BiH as much as possible when specific assistance is requested.
A media update will be released when new information is available.
