Troops of the Strategic Reserve Force (SRF) of EUFOR are already in Bosnia and Herzegovina and now their equipment also arrived. They will be soon conducting patrols across BiH and training with EUFOR in-theatre forces and elements of Armed Forces of BiH.

Lieutenant General Günter Höfler, the Commander of the Austrian Joint Forces Command, was welcomed to Camp Butmir by Brigadier General Ernő Péter Siposs, the EUFOR Chief of Staff on 29 October 2012. General Höfler’s arrival at the EUFOR HQ was marked by an Honour Guard comprising soldiers from the troop contributing nations.

General Siposs briefed General Höfler on the current situation in BiH and how EUFOR continues to support BiH authorities in maintaining the safe and secure environment. The EUFOR Chief of staff thanked General Höfler for Austria’s continuing support to Operation Althea and praised the Austrian soldiers for their dedication and professionalism.
During his visit General Höfler took the opportunity to meet the various elements of the Austrian contingent that are based in Camp Butmir.
In addition to Commander EUFOR - Major General Robert Brieger, Austrian personnel are currently fulfilling a number of important functions that support the EUFOR mission. These include the Commander of the Multi-National Battalion, several key command advisory roles, support to air operations and engagement with local communities through the Liaison and Observation Teams (LOT) in Bratunac, Tuzla and Brcko.
