Today COMEUFOR, Major General Alexander Platzer and COM NATO HQ Sarajevo, Brigadier General Eric Folkestad, paid tribute to all the deceased military, police and civilian personnel of both EUFOR and NATO missions who lost their lives in service for the cause of lasting peace. Together the commemorated the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers in the Memorial park of Camp Butmir Sarajevo.

Today COMEUFOR Major General Alexander Platzer and COM NATO HQ Sarajevo Brigadier Eric General Folkestad conducted a visit to an AFBiH demining site in Kladanj. At the demining site they were briefed by Major General Radovan Ilić, Commander of the Operations Command, Armed Forces Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On 15 April 2021 EUFOR Camp Butmir was proud to hold an International Medal Parade. 70 Service personnel from 11 different nations received their “Common Security and Defence Policy Medal Operation Althea”, bearing the name of the EU Operation Althea.

On the evening of 22 May EUFOR received a request from Ministry of Security of BiH for assistance in their response to a mountain accident where restricted terrain meant only a helicopter could extract the patient. A local civilian had fallen from a cliff on a mountain near Zvekuše to the East of Konjic. The civilian had sustained severe injuries in his fall. Commander EUFOR, Major General Alexander Platzer authorised the deployment of the EUFOR Search and Rescue Agusta Bell 212 Helicopter

On Wednesday 31st March, EUFOR in BiH are launching the virtual Mine Risk Education (MRE) campaign that was produced in close cooperation with BiH Mine Action Center (BH MAC) and Armed Forces BiH (AFBiH). This virtual Mine Risk Education campaign is being launched to coincide with International Mine Awareness Day on 04 April and ahead of the start of Demining season in BiH.

Today in a Transfer of Authority ceremony held at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, Brigadier General Ernő Baráth relinquished his position of EUFOR Chief of Staff (COS) to his successor, Brigadier General Szilárd Gerőfi, following the completion of a 12-month tour of duty.

This afternoon marked the commencement of a short visit by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Luigi Di Maio, to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
