Over the past two days, EUFOR participated in the Urban Kids Festival held at the Goran Čengić Sports Hall and its surrounds in Sarajevo.
Thousands of children and their families had the opportunity to learn more about EUFOR’s mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina through a variety of interactive activities, educational games, presentations, and demonstrations. One of the highlights for the many visitors was the chance to explore EUFOR military vehicles and equipment up close, attracting great interest from children and adults alike.
EUFOR’s medical team conducted practical demonstrations, allowing young visitors to learn about first aid and emergency response procedures in an engaging and accessible way. At the same time, EUFOR’s Joint Military Affairs (JMA) team delivered mine awareness education sessions, helping children understand the dangers posed by mines and unexploded ordnance and promoting safe behaviour.
Opening the festival, EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda highlighted the importance of community, friendship, inclusion, and cooperation.
“Bringing thousands of children and families together in an environment that is fun, educational, and welcoming sends a very positive message,” he said, while thanking the organisers and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
EUFOR was proud to support an event that promotes education, safety, and community engagement, while providing an opportunity for families to learn more about EUFOR’s role in maintaining a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
