Members of the Working Party on Western Balkans (COWEB) visited Camp Butmir today, with the special presence of European Union Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Luigi Soreca, where they were hosted by the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda.
During the visit, the delegation met with Major General Fronda to discuss the current security environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina and EUFOR’s role in supporting peace and stability. Major General Fronda reaffirmed EUFOR’s continued commitment to supporting the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
The programme also included a static capability display delivered by EUFOR troops, providing an overview of the mission’s operational capabilities and readiness to support and strengthen EUFOR's relatrionship domestic authorities such as the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. EUFOR Commander cited the annual joint training exercise 'Combined Response 26', currently ongoing in Manjača, with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a tangible manifestation of this relationship, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainable peace, stability, and security for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Major General Fronda stated: 'We stand prepared at all times, in line with our mandate to support the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to reinforce security and stability. In particular, we work in close cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina demonstrating our role as a credible visable and impartial force commited to long-term peace throughout BiH'.
