EUFOR welcomed Irish Minister of State Mr. Michael Moynihan TD and the Irish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Adrian Farrell, during their official visit to Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. The delegation was received by EUFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Szabó, who briefed them on current mission activities and the continued importance of international cooperation in maintaining peace and stability across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the visit, discussions highlighted Ireland’s longstanding commitment to peacekeeping and its valued role within EUFOR. Minister Moynihan and Ambassador Farrell emphasized the proud tradition of the Irish Defence Forces, whose personnel have served with distinction in missions around the world.
Brigadier General Szabó commended the Irish contingent currently deployed within EUFOR, led by Lieutenant Colonel Shane Courtney. He praised their professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the successful implementation of EUFOR’s mandate, noting that their work strengthens both the mission and the broader international effort to support a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting underscored the strong partnership between Ireland and EUFOR and reaffirmed the shared commitment to continued cooperation in support of lasting stability in the region.
