Medal Parade in EUFOR HQ On 28th July 2010, contingents from several EUFOR nations paraded for their EUFOR Operation ALTHEA medals.

COS EUFOR, Brigadier General Gerd Biscof presented the medals. COS EUFOR praised the professionalism, loyalty and commitment of all the soldiers and thanked them for a job well done.

Visit of Austrian Minister of Defence
Honor guard paraded for the Minister.

On 20th July 2010, Mag. Norbert Darabos, Austrian Minister of Defence and Sports, visited EUFOR HQ in Sarajevo. The Minister was welcomed to Camp Butmir by a guard of honour and called on the office of COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair. Discussions focussed on the formation of EUFOR’s Capacity Building and Training Division (CBTD) and opportunities to develop further the co-operation between EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. COS EUFOR, Brigadier General Gerd Bischof, together with the Austrian National Contingent Commander and Chief of Joint Military Affairs (JMA), Colonel Lattacher, completed the briefing with an overview of EUFOR tasks and capabilities.

The COS was able to thank Minister Darabos for the recent reinforcement of the Austrian contingent and for the absolute professionalism of the Austrian soldiers and airmen.

Young Woman Flown to Sarajevo Hospital Monday 19 July, in a race against time, a young woman was flown by EUFOR Alouette III medevac helicopter from Bihac to the Kosevo hospital in Sarajevo. The flight was successful and the patient is now in the best care available in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Said COM EUFOR Maj Gen Bernhard Bair the young lady is a very ill patient and our thoughts are with her family.

COM EUFOR Presents Music Marches to Band Master AF BiH
COM EUFOR Major General Bernhard Bair and Lieutenant General Miladin Milojcic
On Monday 19th July 2010, COM EUFOR Major General Bernhard Bair, attended a lunch hosted by the Chief of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH), Lieutenant General Miladin Milojcic. The focus of their conversation was the launch of the EUFOR Training and Capacity Building Division together with opportunities to develop further the cooperation between EUFOR and the AFBiH.

Visit of Dr. Črnčec On 15th July 2010, Dr. Damir Črnčec, Director General of The Intelligence Security Service (ISS) for the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, visited EUFOR HQ at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo.

COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair, welcomed Dr. Črnčec and briefed him on the latest activities of EUFOR, such as the formation of EUFOR’s Capacity Building and Training Division (CBTD). Additionally, COM EUFOR was very pleased to have the opportunity to praise the valuable contribution that the Slovenian contingent makes to EUFOR.

EUFOR Specialists  Support Srebrenica Commemoration
EUFOR Alouette III medical evacuation helicopter.
During the Srebrenica commemoration on 11th July 2010, EUFOR specialists supported the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the organisers of the commemoration ceremony at the Potocari Memorial Centre. In particular, EUFOR aviators provided specialist airspace management support for the influx of helicopters from the international community. These helicopters operated out of temporary landing sites in Bratunac and Srebrenica. BiH agencies operated UH-1, Gazelles, MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters, whilst Montenegro flew an AB 212, Croatia an MI-171, Slovenia an AS-532 Super Puma, Turkey an S-92 and EUFOR Alouette III and S70 Black Hawk aircraft.
