On 20 April, COM EUFOR, Major General Bair, paid a visit to the Liaison and Observation Team (LOT) House in Sanski Most. The LOT House is manned by personnel from Chile and comes under the co-ordination of the Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) West. Captain Felipe Videla, the Deputy Commander of the LOT, welcomed COM EUFOR and introduced the personnel serving in the LOT House.

Major General Bair said, “I am delighted that EUFOR were able to help Loredana and her family. To see how well she looks and that she has been able to return to her studies is absolutely fantastic news.” He continued “We, of course, want to remain a positive presence in the country, having the personnel and the equipment to assist the people and the National Authorities in dealing with serious incidents and saving lives, if requested.”

The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Wang Fuguo, visited Camp Butmir today, 18 April.
The ambassador was welcomed to EUFOR HQ by the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair. EUFOR’s mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Operation ALTHEA, is a United Nations mandated mission. The People's Republic of China is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The UNSC is charged with the maintenance of international peace and security.
COM EUFOR and H.E Fuguo engaged in dialogue about the current political stalemate within the country and the impact it was having on the population of BiH. They went on to talk about the importance of the State Institutions of BiH and the key role that they have to play in the future of the country. In particular, the crucial need for the Country’s legal system to effectively function in order to enable BiH to move towards its goal of joining the EU. They exchanged thoughts on the decision adopted by the Republika Srpska National Assembly to call for a referendum on the central justice system and the effect this would have on the country’s ability move forward with mutually agreed reforms.
They concluded their meeting with discussions about EUFOR’s role as the military component of the overarching European Security and Defence Policy mission in BiH and the continuing need for the executive mandate.

Lieutenant General Edward Gruszka, Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces accompanied by Lieutenant General Zbigniew Glowienka, Commander-in-Chief Polish Land Forces visited Camp Butmir today, 14 April. COM EUFOR, Major General Berhard Bair welcomed them to the EUFOR Headquarters.
