The Dutch Senior National Representative, Lieutenant Colonel Rob Wetters, organized a briefing programme for the visit by Lieutenant Colonel Rob Keijzer from the Netherlands Ministry of Defence, which highlighted the Dutch contribution to the mission. Though the number of Dutch personnel here is small, they hold key positions within EUFOR’s capacity building and training department, which assists Armed Forces BiH in developing their skills and capabilities.
|General Commenda inspects the Guard of Honour|
General Commenda was welcomed at Camp Butmir on Wednesday by a guard of honour before meeting with Commander EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker, to gain an update on the political situation in BiH and the Austrian contribution to the EUFOR mission.
General Commenda then attended a meeting with the Chief of the Joint Staff of Armed Forces BiH, Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, together with Lieutenant General Jeleč’s senior leadership team.
All members of the CBTD, including the Embedded Advisory Teams (EATs), attended the meeting, as well as representatives from Policy & Plans and Operations Division (OPSD). After the opening remarks by Col. Hakan Soner APLAK (TR Army), DCOS CBT, the organization, newcomers, areas of responsibility within CBTD, and essentially the ongoing and future activities were briefed, followed by presentations by the different Branch Heads of the Division.
EUFOR’s Multinational Battalion has transported over 20 tons of construction material to locations in BiH which were affected by the flooding in May and June.
The construction materials, which were provided via the Red Cross organisation, are to be used to help reconstruct houses which were affected by flooding in Orašje, Gradačac and Ključ.
A pilot course to teach maintenance and upkeep principles was delivered to AFBiH maintenance personnel at the 8th Logistics Support Battalion in Rajlovac between 29 Sep 14 and 3 Oct 14.
The initiative for the course came from the Joint Staff of AFBiH. The course aimed to bring together staff from different service units throughout BiH in order to present a number of techniques on organizing units and developing work plans and schedules for maintenance activities, based on the available resources.
