On 26 November 2013 an Assessment Conference to review the Capacity Building and Training (CB&T) programme which EUFOR provides to the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH) began at the EUFOR HQ in Sarajevo. The aim of the conference is to review CB&T activities and assess the future needs to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the EUFOR training programme. Training support given to the AF BiH includes the training of instructors, advice, mentoring and monitoring of their activities conducted by Mobile Training Teams (MTT), Mentoring Monitoring Teams (MMT) and Embedded Advisory Teams.
On 21 November 2013, Brigadier General Hans Hardenbol, the Director Operations of the Royal Netherlands Army, paid a courtesy visit to Major General Dieter Heidecker, the Commander (COM) of EUFOR.
Brigadier General Hardenbol is responsible for the process of operational and combat readiness training and mission planning of army units for the Netherlands, and was accompanied by Major Werner Blok and Major Roelof Driesen.
On 19 November the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker and Chief of Staff, Brigadier General József Szpisják attended the 4th High-level National Surplus Ammunition and Light Weapons (SALW) Conference at the Army Hall, Sarajevo. The distinguished permanent members of this meeting include the EU Special Representative, H.E. Peter Sørensen, Head of Mission OSCE to BiH, Brigadier General (Retired) Harold Quiel and the Commander of NATO HQ Sarajevo, Brigadier General Merle D. Hart.
On 19 November 2013, the Chief of General Staff of the Army of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Lieutenant General Goranco Koteski, met with the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker. During the office call, Major General Heidecker thanked his guest for his country’s contribution to EUFOR and acknowledged the importance of the role that the personnel from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia have within the mission and praised the quality of the members presently serving within EUFOR. These members include personnel within the HQ staff as well as Doctors and Nurses at the Camp BUTMIR medical facility.
On 19 November 2013, Major General Dieter Heidecker, the Commander (COM) of EUFOR, welcomed Lieutenant General IIlhan Talu, the Commander of the 4th Corps of the Turkish Army to Camp BUTMIR.
During the meeting, COM EUFOR informed General Talu on recent EUFOR activities in delivering the overarching European Security and Defence Policy mission in BiH. The Generals then discussed recent Capacity Building and Training activities delivered by EUFOR personnel to the Armed Forces of BiH as well as the important functions that Turkish military personnel carry out in the mission.
