Brigadier General Szpisják briefed the Minister on the latest activities of EUFOR, particularly with respect to capacity building and training activities, but also on the developments regarding joint training exercises conducted between the Multi-National Battalion, currently consisting of one Hungarian and one Turkish Infantry Company, and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As EUFOR continues to assist the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) with a 100% inventory of surplus ammunition by providing expertise and assistance, four semi-permanent structures, so-called ATCO Fold-A-Way Buildings, and generators, have recently been sourced from the NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR) for delivery to Ammunition Storage Sites (ASS) in BiH by using EUFOR and KFOR assets. Those structures will be used in order to ensure that the 100% inventory can continue year-round irrespective of the weather conditions.
On 10 December 2013 it was time for Colonel (GS) Klaus Jäger to hand over his responsibilities to his successor Colonel (GS) Dieter MUHR. The mission of the Multinational Battalion (MNBN), stationed in Camp BUTMIR in SARAJEVO, is to be prepared to conduct operations autonomously or in support of the BiH authorities or European Union/International Community Agencies in Theatre when requested, in order to maintain a safe and secure environment (SASE). It is the only international military maneuver unit operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), presently made up of two Motorized Infantry Companies from Hungary and Turkey and an Austrian led Battalion HQ.
