A small team from the EUFOR Public Affairs Office in Sarajevo joined with colleagues from the European Union (EU) Military Staff Group to present the recent work and mandate of EUFOR ALTHEA, particularly the achievements of Exercise Quick Response, at the EU Open Day in Brussels on Saturday 04 May 2013.
As part of her Balkans tour, High Representative/Vice President Catherine ASHTON visited Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday 18 April 2013. Lady Ashton commenced her day in the country with an official call on the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she expressed her disappointment that the political leaders of the country had not found an agreement on implementation of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the case 'SEJDIC and FINCI' and urged the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to hold their leaders to account.
This was the first contact between COM EUFOR, Major General Dieter HEIDECKER, and the Russian Ambassador Alexander A. Botsan-Kharcenko. The common goal was to share information regarding the specific goals of both EUFOR and RUSSIA and how they are put into practice as well as to find possible synergies.
COM EUFOR, Major General Dieter HEIDECKER, gave a statement on BH TV1 on the afternoon of Thu 04 April 2013 at 1545 hrs.
The Commander’s intent was to provide clarity on EUFOR’s tasks and policy position in the area of Ammunitions and Weapons Surpluses (AWS). The statement explains that there have not been any significant recent changes to EUFOR’s tasking or policy role in dealing with challenge of the AWS in BiH nor are any significant changes planned in the immediate future.
On 27 and 28 March the 6th Engineering Conference was held at Camp Butmir, HQ EUFOR. Aim of the conference was to discus next years training calendar and specific needs for all the engineering activities within AF BiH. EUFOR Chief of Staff presented important guidelines to the conference in his opening remarks to govern the outcome of the conference.
