Major General Bernhard Bair, COM EUFOR visited the town of Zenica today, 9 June. During his visit, he paid a call on the Prime Minister of Zenica – Doboj Canton, Mr Fikret Plevljak. During their office call, they discussed the recent progress on the formation of the State level government and the impact that the lack of government has had on the Canton. General Bair congratulated the Prime Minister on his first one hundred days in office.

Major General Bernhard Bair, COM EUFOR officially launched the EUFOR Youth Campaign today, 31st May. The campaign focuses on the young people of BiH and that the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina need to start functioning effectively. Only when this happens can BiH move towards the European Union and get things moving in the right direction to provide a better future for the youth.
Major General Bair said, “As EUFOR, we see the youth of BiH as the country’s future and so, we must give them and the country a chance to succeed. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness across the country and remind everyone that BiH is standing still and by doing this, we are letting down the youth of BiH. We must make the youth of BiH the winners of both today and tomorrow!”
The ViaKult Office officially launched the 8th Kids Festival on 24th May. As one of the main sponsor of the festival over the 8 years, Major General Bernhard Bair, COM EUFOR was invited to attend the launch.
COM EUFOR speaking in local language, said, “The children of Bosnia and Herzegovina are its future and we must all invest in that future! EUFOR is working within the local communities of BiH to help all of the peoples to live together in a stable, viable, peaceful and multi ethnic Nation. EUFOR is delighted to be able to support the 8th Kids Festival that provides children from across all of BiH and from all ethnic backgrounds with the opportunity to have fun, learn and undertaken new experiences together. I am happy to announce that EUFOR will provide a parachute display team to entertain the children. I wish all the children a fun time at this year’s Festival.”
A EUFOR helicopter based at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, participated in a successful Search and Rescue operation south of Medugorje earlier today, 6 May. A female German tourist had been reported missing overnight to the local police. Due to the nature of the terrain and the large potential search area, the local police requested support from EUPM. The assistance of EUFOR helicopter support was then asked for by the EUPM.
