Visit of the Deputy COS Operations of Allied Joint Force Command Naples

On 14th October 2010, the deputy COS, Operations, of Allied Joint Force Command Naples, Major General William H. Wade II, visited EUFOR HQ and NATO HQ Sarajevo in Camp Butmir. He was welcomed by COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair, after which they had an office call.
The officers enjoyed a wide ranging discussion that focused on the OP ALTHEA mission and the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Spanish Contingent EUFOR Celebrated National Day
H.E. Alejandro Alvargonzález San Martín and The Commander of the IPU, Colonel José Manuel Santiago Marin of the Spanish Guardia Civil.

On 9th October 2010, the soldiers of the Spanish Contingent EUFOR celebrated their National Day (Spain's National Day - Día de la Hispanidad - is normally celebrated on 12 October). The date commemorates the advent of democracy in Spain and the discovery of America in 1492.

The day began with a military parade where the guest of honour was Spanish Ambassador to BiH H.E. Alejandro Alvargonzález San Martín. The EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN) and Integrated Police Unit (IPU) presented medals to honour those who have served in the mission, contributing to the safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina by assisting in the maintenance of public order and security.

German National Day

On 3rd October 2010, the soldiers of the German Contingent EUFOR celebrated their National Day under a clear blue sky. It was the 20th anniversary of the German reunification, truly a most worthy occasion to start a little early. Therefore the celebrations began on Saturday evening with a serenade by torchlight in front of the HQ EUFOR. The audience was entertained with a wide variety of classic and contemporary tunes played by the Luftwaffen Musikkorps 3.

IPU Medal Parade

On 1st October 2010, the EUFOR Integrated Police Unit (IPU) held a medal parade to honour those who have served in the mission, contributing to the safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina by assisting in the maintenance of public order and security.

The Commander of the IPU, Colonel José Manuel Santiago Marin of the Spanish Guardia Civil, hosted the event where the guests of honour, the French, Romanian and Spanish Ambassadors presented the OP ALTHEA medals alongside COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair and DCOM EUFOR, Brigadier General Tibor Nagy.

On 28th September 2010, contingents from several EUFOR nations paraded for their EUFOR Operation ALTHEA medals. DCOM EUFOR, Brigadier General Tibor Nagy, and COS EUFOR, Brigadier General Günter Giesa, awarded the medals to EUFOR personnel.

Spanish Ambassador Presents OP ALTHEA Medals

On 27th September 2010 the Spanish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E Alejandro Alvargonzález San Martín attended a medal parade to honour those who have served in the mission. The majority of those receiving medals were Spanish who are nearing the end of their contribution to EUFOR in BiH.
COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair, thanked all those who received their medals, telling them that they could be proud of their hard work, their professionalism and their contribution to the country.
