Quick Response 2020

EUFOR’s Exercise Quick Response 2020 took place right across BiH from 30th August – 5th September.

Every year EUFOR tests contingency plans and the capability of designated high-readiness forces outside the country to fulfill its mandate. The rehearsal also reaffirms and strengthens the close cooperation we have with local authorities, Law Enforcement Agencies and the Armed Forces of BiH.

This year, we selected forces from Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Romania, the United Kingdom and KFOR to join the troops in theatre. 20 nations united under EUFOR Command clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to security, stability and progress in BiH.

Sarajevo International Airport is once again visited by giant transport aircraft. On this occasion, they arrive to return the last troops and vehicles that were deployed on EUFOR’s Exercise Quick Response 2020.

Saturday 5th September marked the occasion for the closing ceremony of Exercise Quick Response 2020.

EUFOR troops have been deployed right across BiH over the last week on Exercise Quick Response 2020 as part of Operation Althea.

Exercise Quick Response 2020 is taking place concurrently in multiple locations across BiH. In the afternoon of Wednesday 2 September, as part of Exercise Quick Response 2020, a dynamic exercise took place at Sarajevo International Airport, which rehearsed the simulation of attempted airplane hijacking and terrorist attack. This is the fourth year in a row that SIA is taking part in the exercise. Acting Director of the Airport Alan Bajić said that airplane hijacking is one of the hardest terrorist acts and one of the most complex crisis situations and continued: “Airport staff and other participants invested a lot of effort to make sure that exercise is conducted properly. I want to thank everyone who participated in the exercise. Although we hope that we would never have this situation in a real life, it is good to know that we have well trained personnel and procedures”.

The first day of action from EUFOR’s Exercise Quick Response 2020 showed that the troop integration has worked very well.
