popup_type=normal}17th June - French Officer Academy of the Gendarmerie Nationale visited EUFOR at Camp Butmir as a part in its study tour in BiH and Croatia.
Brigadier General Petit, Deputy Commander of the Academy, was welcomed by the EUFOR Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Carrasco who received a traditionnal kepi as a gift. At the IPU training area, they were received by IPU Force Commander and by Multinational Battalion Commander.
The mentioned authorities and the cadets attended a ”Civil Disturbance Operation” Exercice performed by the Integrated Police Unit in cooperation with the Multinational Battalion and with the EUFOR Helis Assets. They were able to appreciate the inter-operability of the units involved on the ground and in the air, their capabilities and their ability to deal with major crisis.
The 160 cadets of the promotion named “Captain MARCHIANI” are about to achieve their two years of training after having been either non-commissioned officer or having obtained a Master. They all will join the head of their operational unit at the 1st August 2009. In a near future, some of them will perform an international mission in which the Gendarmerie Nationale is involved.
