Written by Lt Cdr David Collins Wednesday, 27 June 2012 07:24On 26 June 2012 the Chief of Staff EUFOR - Brigadier General Ernő Siposs, together with the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina - Renzo Daviddi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland - Jerzy Chmielewsky and the Ambassador of Hungary - Jozsef Pandur visited Doboj.
The purpose of the visit was to enable the EU representatives to meet both dignitaries and citizens of Doboj and to discuss progress at a municipal level on EU integration. This included a meeting with the Mayor of Doboj - Obren Petrovic and the Speaker of the Municapal Assembly - Zdravko Petrovic and a trip to see an EU funded railway project. Improvements to the railway infrastructure are particularly significant since Doboj is an important strategic rail crossroad in BiH, with the railway company being the largest employer in the municipality. On completing a particularly informative visit, Brigadier General Siposs was clearly impressed with the progress Doboj is making in supporting BiH’s journey towards closer EU co-operation and integration.
