Soldiers from Armed Forces BiH have completed an ammunition training course this week which was held at Travnik barracks.
The course, which was led by a EUFOR mobile training team from Austria, lasted for 4 weeks. The purpose was to educate the soldiers about a wide range of ammunition-related topics, including labelling, storage, packaging and safe transportation of ammunition.

One of EUFOR’s major objectives is to assist BiH authorities in solving the issue of surplus ammunition and weapons, and training AFBiH to develop their own professionals in this field is a key element to support this aim.
A closing ceremony was held to mark the end of the course, where certificates were presented to the students by Brigadier General Gojko Knežević. The ceremony was also attended by Brigadier General Reinhart Trischak of the Austrian Armed Forces.
The leader of the Austrian mobile training team, Mr Werner Kernmaier, has vast experience in ammunition safety training. Last week he was awarded the ‘Civilian of the Year’ award by the Austrian MoD for his work and dedication in this subject area.
The course formed part of EUFOR’s wider capacity building and training programme, which is designed to develop the skills and capabilities of AFBiH in a number of areas including peace support operations, ammunition management, communications and engineering.
