Change of Command in Multinational Battalion (MNBN)

16th December 2009 - COM EUFOR, Major General Bernhard Bair, presided over a change of command ceremony in Gym of Camp Butmir to mark the handover of command within the Multinational Battalion (MNBN). Lt Col Juan Bosco Montero Prado handed over command to Lt Col Antonio A. Otero Garcia, after nearly four months in command. The parade consisted of troops from the Multinational Battalion. Major General Bair, COM EUFOR, awarded Lt Col Bosco Montero Prado with the ALTHEA Peace Mission Medal and commented on his professionalism and dedication. He welcomed Lt Col Antonio A. Otero Garcia and wished him similar success.

The new Spanish replacements in the MNBN consist of nearly of 200 troops, mainly Spanish Marines, but also from the Spanish Navy and Army. The MNBN consists of four Companies from Hungary, Poland, Turkey and Spain who also provide a reconnaissance platoon. These forces operate in support of maintaining the safe and secure environment in BiH.
