The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, met with the Mayor of East Sarajevo, Mr. Ljubiša Ćosić, during a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and dialogue between EUFOR and local authorities.

The meeting was marked by an open and constructive exchange on the current security environment, local priorities, and issues affecting communities across East Sarajevo. Discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining regular dialogue between EUFOR and local leaders to better understand the perspectives, concerns, and priorities of communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Major General Fronda and Mayor Ćosić also discussed the importance of stability as the foundation upon which communities can develop and prosper. Both recognised that a safe and secure environment is essential for supporting economic development, strengthening local communities, and improving the quality of life of citizens.

The meeting further highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between EUFOR and institutions at both the local and national level. Major General Fronda underlined the strong relationships maintained between EUFOR and domestic authorities, including law enforcement agencies, in support of maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Dialogue and cooperation are essential to building trust and mutual understanding. Meetings such as this allow us to listen to local perspectives, better understand community priorities, and strengthen the partnerships that contribute to long-term stability throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Major General Fronda.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared importance of communication, cooperation, and partnership in supporting stability and ensuring that the views and experiences of communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to be understood and respected. EUFOR continues to operate under its mandate in support of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, maintaining a visible, credible, and impartial presence across the country.
