Key surplus ammunition meeting held at EUFOR Headquarters

EUFOR Headquarters today hosted the 6th Meeting of the Strategic Committee for Arms, Ammunition and Explosive Ordnance. The Committee, led by the BiH Ministry of Defence, included senior representatives from Armed Forces BiH, NATO, EUFOR, the OSCE mission to BiH, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Office of the Special Representative of the EU in BiH and Embassies of the United States, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden.

Swiss Head of Armed Forces Joint Staff visits EUFOR

The Swiss Head of Armed Forces Joint Staff, Major General Jean-Marc Halter, today visited EUFOR and met with Commander EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker.
Major General Halter is responsible for the planning, conduct and evaluation of joint operations and missions of the Swiss Armed Forces in Switzerland and abroad. He plans and controls the readiness of the Armed Forces, and is directly accountable to the Chief of the Armed Forces.

EUFOR assistance continues following conclusion of JOINT EFFORT

A farewell parade was held today to thank EUFOR’s three Reserve Companies for their participation in JOINT EFFORT, the name given to the flood-related disaster relief work conducted with Armed Forces BiH.
Slovenia, Austria and the United Kingdom each contributed approximately 120 troops, who were originally deployed to BiH to take part in Exercise Quick Response 14. However due to the devastating flooding, the main effort of both EUFOR and Armed Forces BiH changed to conducting flood-related disaster relief.

Chilean Armed Forces Chief of Joint Staff visits EUFOR

The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Chilean Armed Forces, Vice Admiral José Romero, today visited EUFOR headquarters at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo.
Vice Admiral Romero was welcomed by a guard of honour at the EUFOR headquarters before having an office call with Major General Dieter Heidecker, Commander EUFOR. In the afternoon, he also visited the NATO Headquarters in Camp Butmir and then proceeded to meet with the Chilean national contingent.

EUFOR members donate blood on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day

EUFOR military and civilian members from nine countries have shown their commitment to helping the population of BiH by donating blood in Camp Butmir in support of World Blood Donor Day.
EUFOR was initially approached by Professor Maida Šalaga-Baždar, head of blood donation promotion.  She emphasized the importance of providing blood for use in the General Hospital and Clinical Centre of Sarajevo University, as well as other transfusion centres in BiH.

General Sir Adrian Bradshaw visited BiH

General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, the EUFOR Operation Commander, visited BiH on 9-10 June to gain an update on the progress of Operation Althea and to witness EUFOR troops assisting Armed Forces BiH in their flood-related disaster relief work.
On the morning of 9 June, General Bradshaw received an update in EUFOR HQ on Operation Althea progress, with particular focus on the recent flooding. He spent the afternoon in Sarajevo visiting the Presidency, the UN Development Programme office and the Ministry of Defence.

President of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, visited EUFOR Althea

On 4 June 2014, the President of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, visited EUFOR Althea.

President Pahor is here to discuss the Slovenian contribution to EUFOR and to visit the Slovenian troops who are currently serving in BiH. During his visit, the President met with the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker, who thanked the President for the Slovenian contribution and also expressed his wishes for further good cooperation and support in the future.

EUFOR Reserve Companies start JOINT EFFORT

EUFOR’s reserve companies are now working with Armed Forces BiH to conduct a number of tasks, including repairing water supplies, disinfection of streets, removal of garbage and transportation of aid
The reserve companies deployed from Camp Butmir on Friday 6 June 2014 to assist the Armed Forces of BiH in their flood-related disaster relief efforts, commonly known as JOINT EFFORT. The UK and Slovenian companies travelled to Dubrave, near Tuzla, while the Austrian company deployed to Zenica.

Welcome Parade for EUFOR’s Intermediate Reserve Troops

On 31 May 2014, in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, a Welcome Parade was held for EUFOR’s Intermediate Reserve troops.
These troops are EUFOR’s ‘over-the-horizon’ soldiers and currently consist of three companies, of approximately 130 soldiers each, from Austria, Slovenia and the UK.
The troops arrived over the last few days and will remain in BiH for a number of weeks. They were originally deploying here to take part in Exercise Quick Response 14, which was a combined training exercise with the Armed Forces of BiH, but because of the recent flooding, they will now be working with the Armed Forces of BiH on Operation Joint Effort, which is the name given to the combined EUFOR – Armed Forces BiH operation.

Swiss KFOR helicopter working in EUFOR returned to Kosovo

On 4 June 2014, the Swiss KFOR helicopter working in EUFOR returned to Kosovo.
The Swiss ‘Cougar’ helicopter, which is currently based at KFOR, has been in BiH since 20 May 2014, when it was sent there to help EUFOR with flood-related disaster relief work.
The crew of two pilots, three technicians and one additional officer will now return to their duties in Kosovo, to join the other two Swiss helicopters currently based there, as the requests for aid from the BiH authorities have now significantly reduced.

EUFOR Intermediate Reserve Companies from Slovenia and Austria

EUFOR’s Intermediate Reserve Companies will start arriving in BiH from 29 May 2014

These Intermediate Reserve Companies are EUFOR’s ‘over-the-horizon’ troops and currently consists of three companies from Austria and Slovenia. They were originally deploying to BiH for ‘Exercise Quick Response 14’ but due to the recent flooding they will now be conducting disaster relief operations jointly with the Armed Forces of BiH. We have given these operations the name of ‘Operation Joint Effort 14’.

In the last few weeks, EUFOR has been providing humanitarian assistance to the BiH authorities, and has conducted over 200 helicopter evacuation flights and evacuated over 800 people. It is envisaged that the arrival of our Intermediate Reserve Companies will build on this assistance previously provided by EUFOR as we work closely with the Armed Forces of BiH to provide further humanitarian assistance in the coming weeks.

Čete rezervnih snaga EUFOR-a počinju dolaziti u BiH 29. maja 2014.
Čete koje su sastavni dio rezervnih snaga EUFOR-a stacioniranih izvan Bosne i Hercegovine će sutra početi dolaziti u BiH. To su ukupno tri čete iz Austrije i Slovеnije. One su prvobitno trebale biti raspoređene u BiH radi učešća u vježbi “Brzi odgovor 14” /Quick Response 14/, ali će sada, zbog situacije prouzrokovane nedavnim poplavama, zajedno sa Oružanim snagama BiH izvoditi akcije pružanja pomoći u otklanjanju posljedica prirodnih nesreća. Ove akcije se odvijaju pod nazivom “Operacija Združeni napor 14” /Operation Joint Effort 14/.
Tokom nekoliko posljednjih sedmica, EUFOR je pružao humanitarnu pomoć vlastima BiH. Obavljeno je preko 200 helikopterskih evakuacija i evakuirano više od 800 ljudi. Predviđeno je da će dolazak četa naših rezervnih snaga predstavljati dodatnu pomoć onoj koju EUFOR već pruža s obzirom na to da ćemo blisko sarađivati sa Oružanim snagama BiH na pružanju humanitarne pomoći u narednim sedmicama.

Чете које су саставни дио резервних снага ЕУФОР-а стационираних изван Босне и Херцеговине ће сутра почети да долазе у БиХ. То су укупно три чете из Аустрије и Словеније. Оне су првобитно требале бити распоређене у БиХ ради учешћа у вјежби “Брзи одговор 14” /Quick Response 14/, али ће сада, због ситуације проузроковане недавним поплавама, заједно са Оружаним снагама БиХ изводити акције пружања помоћи у отклањању посљедица природних несрећа. Ове акције се одвијају под називом “Операција Здружени напор 14” /Operation Joint Effort 14/.
Током неколико посљедњих седмица, ЕУФОР је пружао хуманитарну помоћ властима БиХ. Обављено је преко 200 хеликоптерских евакуација и евакуисано више од 800 људи. Предвиђено је да ће долазак чета наших резервних снага представљати додатну помоћ оној коју ЕУФОР већ пружа с обзиром на то да ћемо блиско сарађивати са Оружаним снагама БиХ на пружању хуманитарне помоћи у наредним седмицама.
