General Patrick De Rousiers visits EUFOR

The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC), General Patrick de Rousiers, is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and HQ EUFOR Althea between 27th and 28th January 2014. General de Rousiers chairs the EU Military Committee (EUMC), which is the highest military committee within the European Council, and responsible for providing the Political and Security Committee (PSC) with advice and recommendations on all military matters affecting the EU.

CIS Microwave & Satellite Communications course

From 13-24 January 2014, two NCO instructors from the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BIH) and a EUFOR Turkish contingent Mobile Monitoring Team (MMT) conducted a ten day Microwave & Satellite Communications course for members of AF BiH. This course was the first CIS training course in a series of 11 planned for the 2014. There were 13 trainees on the course, three officers and ten NCOs, which took place at the Tactical Support Brigade Barracks in Rajlovac.

Certification Ceremony marks the end of the Military Movement Control Course

One of the tasks of EUFOR, is to train Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH) personnel to work in the transportation branch, to improve the capacity of AF BiH and to enable greater interoperability with the Armed Forces of other nations.
To this end, the Polish Mobile Mentoring Team (MMT) organized a training course at the AF BiH Movement Coordination Centre (MCC) in Doboj from 28 Jan to 24 Dec 2013. The instructors were AF BiH officers from MCC in Doboj who themselves were mentored by the Polish MMT in a tailored Train the Trainer course.

CIS Microwave & Satellite Communications Course for the Armed Forces of BiH

The EUFOR Capacity Building & Training (CB&T) Branch began 2014 with the launch of the CIS Microwave & Satellite Communications Course for members of the Armed Forces of BiH (AF BiH). The course commenced on 13 January 2014 at the Tactical Support Brigade in Rajlovac and will be completed by 24 January 2014.

Remembrance of the Helicopter Crash of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia at EUFOR Camp Butmir

On 12 January 2014, the State Secretary of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Ministry of Defence, Mr Sasho Stefanovski, visited Monument Park in Camp Butmir to remember the 6th anniversary of the helicopter crash, where 11 members of the Macedonian contingent of EUFOR died. EUFOR formed a Guard of Honour to pay their respects to those who lost their lives.
Mr Sasho also attended an office call with Commander EUFOR, Major General Dieter Heidecker, and visited the Camp Butmir Medical Centre, which is staffed by Macedonian Armed Forces personnel.

Chief of Swiss Army, Lieutenant-General André Blattmann, visits EUFOR

On 20 December 2013, Lieutenant-General André Blattmann, paid a visit to EUFOR Headquarters in Camp BUTMIR, SARAJEVO. As Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General André Blattmann is responsible for command and control of the Swiss Armed Forces and their development. He directs the Land Forces and the Air Force, the Armed Forces College, the Logistics Organisation, the Command Support Organisation as well as the Armed Forces Staff and the Armed Forces Joint Staff.
