EUFOR is running the School competition for the second time this year. In 2008-09 the themes are: “EU & BiH – Growing Together” set up for children from 6-14 years, and “The EU – Beauty of Diversity” for children from 15-18 years.

Entries for the competition closed on 31 January and it has already been considered as a great success. Over 3.200 children from 500 primary and secondary schools all over the country delivered their entries through the LOT houses to HQ EUFOR.  The children produced an impressive number of drawings, essays, DVD’s and group projects. Many schools put a great deal of effort in the competition which has helped to raise awareness of the EU. 

During the coming weeks a jury will select the best competition entries. On 27 March the children, their parents and teachers will be invited to Sarajevo for an Award ceremony. Civilian and military representatives will also be invited to attend the ceremony. The prizes have been kindly donated by a number of EU Embassies as well as by EUFOR national contingents.  Several prizes will take the form of group trips to some of the EU member countries.
